Across too small breakfast tables,
Over linoleum floors,
Under doors that don't keep the heat in,
So that they sink in,
So that you remember,
Everything, every bit,
Was done in the name of
Sunday crosswords,
Bad impressions,
Softly speaking hands,
Across a much too small breakfast table.
